Biogas from hotel waste

The Hindu, 20 February 2014

BANGALORE: Hotel owners of Bangalore have tied up with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to generate biogas from wet waste.

Land has been identified to set up a plant and a memorandum of understanding signed, Divakar Rao, member of the Vision Group on Biotechnology, said here on Wednesday. He said that the plant would have facility to purify the gas generated and sell it back to the member hotels. “This model can be replicated in tier-I and tier-II cities,” he said. “The remains can serve as excellent manure,” he added.
