JABIR MUSTHARI, The Hindu, 12 March 2014

KOZHIKODE: The Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM), Kozhikode, has been identified by the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation as a Key Resource Centre (KRC) for carrying out training programmes related to the management and quality of water in south India.

An order to this effect was received by the centre around three weeks ago, CWRDM Executive Director N.B. Narasimha Prasad, told The Hindu on Tuesday. “It is a great recognition for the centre and the diverse activities it has been carrying out in the water quality and management sector for the last several years,” said Dr. Prasad.

This status will remain with the centre for a period of five years and the Water Quality Division of the centre will coordinate different training programmes as part of it, P.S. Harikumar, Head, Water Quality Division, CWRDM, said. The CWRDM will carry out three training programmes on water resource management and one regional seminar on water quality problems and remedies as part of the given mandate in the first year.
