MEDAN (North Sumatra) March 21 (Bernama) -- U.S. ambassador to Indonesia Robert Blake said the U.S. government will support the provision of clean water in urban areas and sanitation management in Indonesia.

The U.S. government will provide two million people in urban areas access to clean water and sanitation for 250,000 people, Indonesian news agency ANTARA reported.

"The US support for clean water in Indonesia is a sign of its concern for the people of Indonesia," Blake said during a lecture to observe World Water Day at the North Sumatra University (USU) campus here Thursday.

On the occasion, Blake noted that Indonesians were in need of clean water of good quality and good sanitation.

The U.S. government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will continue to cooperate with the Indonesia Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (IUWASH) agency in a clean water programme and sanitation in urban areas.
