Amrita University in project to purify water

KOLLAM: Amrita University on Sunday formally joined a league of six Indian innovators who would contribute to an ambitious health project in the country to develop a project which would facilitate use of disease-free water in the field of sanitation.


Under project “Reivent the toilet challenge: India” the Amrita School of Biotechnology attached to the Amrita University was formally given the go-ahead for this collaborative effort of the U.S.-based Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under Ministry of Science and Technology, along with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).


Bipin Nair, Dean, Amrita School of Biotechnology, said that the project was designed by the senior faculty members of the School of Biotechnology, Sanjay Pal and Ajith Madhavan.
