Angola: Minister Calls for People's Involvement in Community Sanitation, 23 March 2014


The minister of Environment, Maria de Fátima Jardim , Saturday called on for community involvement in environmental sanitation programs and preventive health education of families, especially children and women.


The Cabinet minister was speaking in the village of Catete, municipality of Icolo and Bengo, Luanda during the days of reflection in allusion to World Water Day marked this Saturday.


She said that the occasion should be used to educate and raise awareness increasing the populations, regarding the change of quality of life, acquire healthy habits and environmental culture.


She stressed that with the involvement of all in these programs of water treatment avoids diseases in the community and increases the life expectancy of citizens and especially maternal and infant mortality.


"The issue of water and sanitation is now a focus of global discussions, especially the quality of life of citizens on the planet," explained the Minister.


The event, promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, under the motto "Environmental Sanitation is a commitment of all "brought together local, traditional and religious authorities, civil society, students, representatives of OMA and JMPLA, among other entities.
