Raina to promote hygiene with WASH

Indian Express, 24 March 2014

DHAKA: Suresh Raina has signed up with WASH United and ICC to combat one of the deadliest ailments in India and South Africa, diarrhoea.

Around 500 children in India die of diarrhoea caused by poor sanitation and hygiene every day. As WASH United Ambassador, Raina will use his popularity and role model status to tackle this crisis and change attitudes towards sanitation and hygiene.

The organisations are planning to use a global sports event such as a World T20. ICC has dedicated some of the key matches to promoting the cause, including India vs. Pakistan, India vs. Australia and both men’s semi-finals. “All cricketers know how important it is to keep your hands clean. This is not only important to be successful in the game, but even more so to succeed in life!” said Raina during the launch of the campaign.
