376 toilets for women to be built as part of drive to beautify city

New Delhi: From pruning trees to cleaning statues and building toilets for women — the Ministry of Urban Development has decided to beautify the capital after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his intentions on the subject.

 

Though a routine job for civic agencies, it is for the first time that the UD ministry has convened a meeting of all stakeholders to come up with a beautification plan for the city. To begin with, various civic agencies will construct around 376 bio-digester toilets for women at public places, including markets.

 

The government has set a deadline of six months and launched an action plan promising enhancement of civic services and greenery in the capital through coordinated efforts of all agencies, including the New Delhi Municipal Council, the three municipal corporations, Central Public Works Department and Delhi Development Authority.
