Hard to reach people reluctant to use sanitary latrines in Barind

RAJSHAHI : Despite efforts of different GO- NGO, hardly 250 of around 1000 households are using sanitary latrines in Narayanpur, Mohar and Kalna villages of Talanda Union Parishad in Tanore Upazila of the district, reports BSS.

 

“We provided all requisite latrine materials to about 500 of the families including ethnic people in last eight years. But, unfortunately fifty percent of those were damaged during the time,” said Akheruzzaman Hannan, Talanda UP chairman, adding the people remained reluctant to use sanitary latrines.

 

“In spite of our relentless effort we couldn’t succeed to attain cent percent sanitary coverage in the hard-to-reach villages of the high barind tract,” Hannan added while talking to a group of visiting journalists at Kalna village on Tuesday. Read More....
