Rs 5 lakh per ward for sanitation

NEW DELHI: South Delhi Municipal Corporation has allocated Rs 5 lakh for sanitation work in each ward, along with repair of 410 toilet blocks.


However, sanitation is their basic function and allocating extra funds for it raises questions on how this money will be spent. "Keeping the city clean is corporation's duty. Allocating Rs 5 lakh for each ward for cleaning work is nothing but just a way to make money" said a Congress councillor.


But BJP leaders in the corporation reason that under their sanitation drive, they are removing more waste from the roads, for which extra resources are needed. Read more....
