Bio-toilets to come up in a big way

Apart from ‘Namma toilets’ and e-toilets, GVMC will go in a big way for bio-toilets too. They will come up in a total of 40 places in the city, including five at Arilova.


The bio-toilets are developed by DRDO and Administrative Staff College of India. Each of them costs around Rs.35,000 and will have ‘digesters’ instead of flush.


Municipal Commissioner M. V. Satyanarayana said apart from bio-toilets, digesters will also be used in the One Town area to tackle the problem of directly connecting toilets to the drainage. If no place was available, 10 to 15 houses will be connected to digesters at one point. Read more....
