Around 2.25 lakh out of the 3.82 lakh households in the district were without toilets, said Collector N. Venkatachalam here on Monday and added that massive efforts were needed to make Dindigul a public defecation-free district.
To begin with, residences of all government employees should have toilets.
If officials were residing in rented houses without toilets, they should shift to a house with one. Government staff must also motivate their neighbours to construct toilets, the Collector said.
Bank credit would be provided to those who construct toilets on their own. Even a five or six foot long site would suffice for constructing a toilet. Read more....
