State readies for sanitation drive from September 25

BHUBANESWAR: The state government is working out strategies to successfully implement national sanitation campaign scheduled to begin across the country from September 25. The state government has rechristened the campaign 'swachha Odisha abiyan'.


The campaign aims at creating a clean and better environment for people by organizing several awareness programmes. The campaign will continue up to October 23 in rural and up to October 2 in urban areas of the state, official sources said.


Chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati on Friday held a meeting in this regard and formed a joint state-level committee, which was told to prepare a detailed action plan for the campaign by Monday. The departments associated with the campaign are rural development, housing and urban development, school and mass education, health and family welfare, women and child development and information and public relations. Pati also asked the departments to chalk out targeted programmes. Read more....
