While the urban development ministry will allocate Rs 62,000 crores for cleaning towns across the country, the ministry of drinking water and sanitation will spend Rs 1,34,000 crores for the programme to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2.
Besides roping in all levels of bureaucracy from all government departments in the drive, the Centre is also approaching icons from various fields, including Ramakrishna Mission, Patanjali Yogpeeth of Baba Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Gayatri Parivar, and Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth and Siddha Ganga Math in Karnataka.
The Prime Minister will also take part in a walkathon to create awareness about cleanliness.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu unveiled the logo of Swachh Bharat Mission, which has iconic spectacles of Mahatma Gandhi, with Swachh and Bharat embossed in two glasses. Read more....
