A sweeping campaign for spic and span streets

PUDUCHERRY: Heeding the clarion call from the Prime Minister on the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission,’ a mass movement to create a clean India, many organisations and individuals in Puducherry have decided to take the broom into their hands.


On Friday, Lieutenant Governor A.K. Singh led a team, which included Local Administration Minister N.G. Pannirselvam in cleaning up the street in front of Bharathi Park. The government has also constituted a series of ‘sanitation day’ events on roads, in hospitals, toilets, institutions, restaurants, schools and colleges up till October 7.


On October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, the government will be observing the ‘Sanitation Pledge.’


The Swachh Bharat Mission aims for a clean India by October 2, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Read more....
