The Asian Age, 06 October 2014

The city administration is set to provide toilet facilities in as many as 700 slum clusters in the city as a party of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachchh Bharat” campaign.

The initiative will be undertaken and executed by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) in all the jhuggi jhopri (JJ) colonies of Delhi.

“The decision was taken in view of the shortage of toilets in JJ clusters,” DUSIB chief executive officer Amar Nath said.

DUSIB has already prepared a “database” of toilet blocks available in JJ clusters as well as identified the deficit and is actively planning to implement the programme so as to provide more toilets at such places at the earliest, he added. The official said that the board has also carried out “massive” cleanliness drive under “Swachchhta Abhiyaan” in 185 night shelters in different part of the capital.Read more....
