They play prominent role in implementation of welfare schemes: Eshwarappa
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa has urged the government to enhance the honorarium of anganwadi workers.
Inaugurating a convention of anganwadi workers here on Monday, Mr. Eshwarappa said the anganwadi workers play a commendable role in the implementation of Integrated Child Development Scheme and other women and child welfare initiatives of the government. At present, the anganwadi workers were paid a monthly honorarium of Rs. 5,500 each and anganwadi assistants Rs. 3,750 each. The government should enhance the honorariums and strengthen the social security network for anganwadi workers and assistants, he said. Read more....
