BVM seeks toilets in schools, slums

Members of the Basti Vikas Manch (BVM) here on Wednesday held a dharna demanding toilets in schools and slums in the city.

 

The protest against the alleged apathy of the municipal corporation towards upkeep of sanitation was also attended by schoolchildren as well, at Dharna Chowk, near Indira Park.

 

“November 19 is World Toilet Day, but it is not recognised. We conducted the protest to show the hardships schoolchildren, especially female, faced by them everyday. In slums, women face lot of problems because of sanitation issues,” said Sunny, of BVM. Cultural events held to highlight the problems. Read more....
