Plans afoot to improve rural sanitation, says Minister

The Union government is in the process of announcing an action plan aimed at allotment of funds to villages for improving sanitation, Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao said here on Saturday.


Efforts were underway to put in place a dumping yard each for every two villages and provide tricycles for collecting garbage from colonies, he said after participating in Swachh Bharat campaign at Tulasinagar near Kanuru. Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and MLAs Gadde Rammohan Rao and Bode Prasad, Mayor Koneru Sridhar and others accompanied him.


Mr. Srinivas said awareness should be created among people about the importance of maintaining clean environs. He advised people to participate in Swachh Bharat campaign at least a couple of hours twice a week. People’s role was more important in the campaign to maintain cleanliness in colonies, he added.
