Rural sanitation govt’s priority, says Kodela

The government will construct toilets at all households in rural areas under the Swachch Andhra Pradesh programme, Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said here on Sunday.


Speaking to reporters after a book release function, he said government gave top priority to rural sanitation. “The government will sanction funds for construction of toilets, and beneficiaries should construct them by offering ‘shramdan’ for two days,” he added.


Expressing concern over environmental degradation eroding the ozone layer and causing floods and cyclones, he attributed the phenomenon to the ecological imbalance owing to prolonged neglect and felling of trees. He called upon politicians, officials and youth to undertake extensive tree plantation. Read more....
